Wallflower Journal aims to reach women who desire to feed their hearts, minds, and souls with deep thoughts, meaningful words, and honest stories.

It’s our mission to create a lovely space for women, where they can find encouragement in their everyday lives, thoughtful answers to their deepest questions, helpful advice on their relationships, and inspiration to cultivate and live a life of beauty.

With that being said, we’re always on the lookout for new voices and thoughts and would love to hear yours.

We specifically look for articles that can fit into these categories:

  • Arts, Books, & Media. You can share your thoughts on a specific book, film, show, or album (why every young woman should read/watch/listen to it, what the characters, story, or lyrics can teach/show us about life, etc). Alternatively, we’re always looking for more recommendation lists (ex: The Most Romantic Movies To Watch This Valentine’s Day)

  • Relationships. We cover three main types of relationships: romantic, platonic, and familial. We want readers to find friendly advice, whether about dating or long-term relationships, how to find new friends, what to look for in a friend, or how to handle difficult family members — anything that can shed light on our readers’ many relationships.

  • Lifestyle. Part of our goal is to inspire beauty in the lives of those who come across Wallflower Journal. We’re on the hunt for delicious recipes, practical ideas for creating lovely living spaces, or your best travel tips.

  • Beauty & Fashion. We hope to encourage our readers to embrace their unique beauty and style. We’re always looking for favorites lists (ex: The Best No-Heat Hairstyling Tools), helpful tips (ex: Styling A White Tee For Every Occasion), or inspiration-themed pieces (ex: Embrace Your Inner Audrey With These Beauty Hacks).

  • Opinions & Stories. Honest thoughts and stories are an important part of our vision. Life is so unpredictable, beautiful, and challenging, and sometimes what we have to say can’t neatly fit into a category. Opinion/story pieces can cover a multitude of topics, including but not limited to: mental health issues, defining life moments, the biggest lessons we’ve learned, faith, personal stories of growth, etc.

Now that we’ve covered all the fun stuff, here’s how to submit your article:

All submissions can be emailed to info@wallflowerjournal.com

The email subject line should read as follows: “Insert Potential Article Headline Here / Submission”. We accept both pitches and articles. To submit an article, copy the article into the body of the email (no attachments). Articles should be at least 500 words. To submit a pitch, include an additional potential headline, as well as an outline of your article. Additionally, all submissions should include links to previously published writings and any relevant social media.

Accepted submissions will go through a round of edits with our team.

A few more important things to know:

All submissions must be original, previously unpublished work. If a piece has been previously published, authors must disclose this at the time of submission.

For original, unpublished submissions, authors grant Wallflower First Electronic Publication Rights, allowing us to be the first to publish the work online. For previously published pieces accepted by exception, publication rights will be agreed upon with the author prior to publication.

Authors retain copyright to their work.

After publication, all rights revert to the author. Wallflower retains the non-exclusive right to keep published work permanently available in our online archives.

If an author wishes to republish a piece that first appeared in Wallflower, we ask that they notify us in advance and acknowledge Wallflower as the original place of publication. When possible, we also appreciate the inclusion of a link to the original article.

We’re looking so forward to hearing your unique perspective and beautiful words. Happy writing!
