5 Dates With Him That You Can Plan

We all love the idea of being asked on a romantic date, especially when our guy has put thought and care into making it memorable and special for us. But why let the boys have all the fun in planning a unique and wonderful time? Below, find five ideas for dates that you’ll have the best time planning, and even more fun taking your significant other on.

A city scavenger hunt.

This idea is particularly fun when living or visiting cities where you don’t need a car to get around. Write out a list of things and activities you both like (examples: a book published in the year you were born, a cupcake in your favorite flavor, a picture with a street performer, etc) then step out into the day and check off the boxes one by one. This will keep you entertained, cracking up, and adventuring for hours that will add up to an unforgettable day.

A personality quiz & picnic in the park.

On days warm enough to venture out into your favorite park (which are approaching very quickly!) gather up a pack of your favorite cheeses, nuts, fruit, and bread or crackers, find an old blanket, pull up a personality quiz (like this one), and venture into the park.

Take your time strolling through the natural beauty until you find a perfect place to set up camp. Once settled and full of snacks, pull out your quiz and spend some time getting to know each other even better. In addition to having fun, eating well, and enjoying nature you’ll also find yourself feeling mentally and emotionally closer to the person you love.

Buying blindfolded & a movie night.

For a low-effort, laid-back that night you don’t even have to get dressed for (wonderful for cold or rainy days), try this date idea, made popular thanks to a TikTok trend. First, go to the store, find the snack aisle, take turns putting on a blindfold and picking our snacks at random until you have salty, sweet, and a drink!

After the snacks are picked out, do the same thing in the DVD aisle. Once you’re back at home and snuggled up on the couch, you’ll have a delightfully random assortment of snacks and entertainment — and even if the movie isn’t great, it’ll be a memory you share that might even turn into a tradition.

Cook dinner & read a book together.

What’s more romantic than cooking together? Reading together, possibly. So why not combine both into one intimate and quiet night at home? First, find a recipe you’ve never tried before (like this one) and make it together. Then, when the meal is ready, eat it at the table, where you can actually look at each other and reestablish connection over a creation you both had a part in marking.

When you’re full, pour yourself and him a glass of wine or hot chocolate, and read a novel out loud to each other. You can take turns for each chapter or voice different characters. This sweet date will help tear your eyes from screens and focus on each other while getting lost in a delicious meal and story.

Dinner out & a show.

Clichè? Maybe. But there’s a reason for that! Going to one of your old favorite restaurants or even trying a new one is one of the best ways to share an experience while looking into each other’s eyes. And when there’s a lull in the conversation, a show (Broadway play, musical, local theater, comedy show, or even a movie — get creative!) is a perfect way to keep the night alive while letting your mind rest. And afterward, you’ll have plenty to talk about on the drive home.
